Two Belarusian citizens were detained. The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident,\u201d Tusk said in a post on the social platform X <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/donaldtusk\/status\/1967653747208884444\">translated from Polish<\/a>, per the artificial intelligence tool Grok.<\/p>\n<p>Last Wednesday, Poland <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/international\/5496068-nato-response-russian-drone-article-4\/\">invoked the<\/a> North Atlantic Treaty\u2019s Article 4 following fighter jets shooting down multiple Russian drones that illegally came into Polish airspace.<\/p>\n<p>Russia said it didn\u2019t purposefully send drones into the airspace, but the action has resulted in an outcry from NATO allies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is clear is that the violation last night is not an isolated incident,\u201d NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said Wednesday. \u201cWhether it was intentionally or not, it is absolutely reckless. It is absolutely dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Recent Eastern European tensions have also come amid the Trump administration\u2019s efforts to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. President Trump recently met with Russian President Vladimir Putin <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5455439-trump-putin-alaska-meeting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in Alaska<\/a> and soon after with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5457096-live-updates-trump-zelensky-ukraine-russia-europe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">at the White House<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, Rep. Rick Crawford (R-Ark.) <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/5502941-putin-nato-rick-crawford\/\">said that<\/a> Putin \u201cis sticking his thumb in the eye of NATO.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know if he is trying to invoke an Article 5 response, but he is \u2026 really endangering his position,\u201d the Arkansas Republican added. \u201cAnd then further, this should be a wake-up call to the European Union and other nations that, look, we need to tighten up these sanctions.
