{"id":681,"date":"2025-09-25T21:04:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-25T21:04:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globaltalentholding.com\/?p=681"},"modified":"2025-09-30T12:21:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T12:21:12","slug":"trump-vance-downplay-hegseth-meeting-with-military-leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globaltalentholding.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/25\/trump-vance-downplay-hegseth-meeting-with-military-leaders\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump, Vance downplay Hegseth meeting with military leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The White House on Thursday downplayed plans for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/defense\/5521707-hegseth-summons-top-generals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">convene top military leaders<\/a>&nbsp;next week amid speculation about the purpose for the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not particularly unusual that generals who report to the secretary of War and then to the president of the United States are coming to speak with the secretary of War,\u201d Vice President Vance said in the Oval Office. \u201cIt\u2019s actually not unusual at all and I think it\u2019s odd that you\u2019ve made it into such a big story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>President Trump suggested the generals would be \u201ctouring equipment sites\u201d and \u201ctalking about the newest weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s great when generals and top people want to come to the United States to be with our now-secretary of War,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>The comments came from the Oval Office, just after Trump signed an executive order related to advancing a deal for U.S. and other investors to take over the TikTok social media app.<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/2025\/09\/25\/hegseth-generals-quantico-meeting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first reported<\/a>&nbsp;that Hegseth earlier this week ordered hundreds of the U.S. military\u2019s generals and admirals to gather on short notice and without a stated reason.
